Conor McGregor Ordered to Pay RM1.23M After Being Found Guilty of Sexual Assault
DUBLIN, Nov 23 — Conor McGregor has been ordered to pay €248,000 (RM1.23 million) in damages after a Dublin High Court jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting Nikita Hand at the Beacon Hotel in December 2018. The jury deliberated for six hours before delivering the verdict, following Hand’s accusation that McGregor pinned her to a bed and assaulted her after a Christmas party.
Hand, a 35-year-old hair colourist, sustained bruising and abrasions, which were treated the following day at a sexual assault unit. Speaking outside court, she expressed gratitude for the support she received and urged others to speak out against such incidents.
McGregor denied the allegations, claiming the injuries may have been caused by an unrelated event, and announced plans to appeal. The jury cleared a second man, James Lawrence, of assault charges related to the same night. Both men had argued the encounters were consensual.
Hand revealed in court that the assault had a severe impact on her mental health, leading to the loss of her job, relationship, and financial stability, while she incurred over €4,000 in medical costs.
