KUALA LUMPUR: An e-hailing driver accidentally left his passenger behind, after believing he had already entered the vehicle after hearing the rear car door shut.
In an interior dashcam footage shared on @update11111 on X, the driver had stopped by the roadside to pick up his passenger, who was loading items to the back seat.
After the passenger placed his belongings inside the vehicle, he shut the door, with the intention to go up to the front passenger seat.
However, the driver, upon hearing the sound of the door closing, assumed that the passenger had entered the car and quickly drove off.
It wasn't until the driver was confirming the destination that he realised his passenger was left behind.
"Where am I sending you to, to Teratai?" he asked. His question was met with silence.
Once he arrived, he said, "I thought you already entered the car."
They shared some laughs and the passenger said: "No, not yet."
Driver: Where did you go after shutting the door?
Passenger: I put my things in the backseat, and closed the door to come to the front seat, but you drove away quickly.
In the comment section, X user @wfr3104 said it was heartwarming to see the misunderstanding resolved amicably.
"A small misunderstanding. Settled without unnecessary nonsense. All smiles. All good."
Another user @2kosong24 however advised the driver to be more careful next time.
"It's good that neither of them got angry, but I hope the driver does not just rely on the sound of the passenger shutting the door next time.
"He must check, for safety's sake. Someone could be holding a knife to rob and he wouldn't even notice," the user said.
