A company claimed the RM500,000 cash left in a suitcase at a shopping mall.

The company then lodged a police report in Shah Alam over the matter. SHAH ALAM: The police have yet to determine the rightful owner of the suitcase filled with over RM500,000 cash, which was found in a bag left at a shopping mall in Damansara.

Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk S. Sasikala Devi said forensics had not made any conclusive findings based on the fingerprints found on the bag.

"At the same time, we are still ascertaining the source of the cash.

"We have recorded the statements of 10 individuals, including the man who claimed the money was his. However, we are investigating further as we are not satisfied yet with the findings so far," she told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters on Wednesday (April 24).

DCP Sasikala said that police are also investigating the reason why the money was left at the mall in the first place.

"Allows us time to get to the bottom of the matter. There is no time limit for us to return the cash, thus we need to verify its source and rightful owner," she said.

On March 20, a suitcase containing over RM500,000 cash in RM10, RM50, and RM100 denominations was found at a shopping center in Damansara and handed over to the police.
