KUALA LUMPUR: Another national football player became a victim of an attack last night when his car's rear windscreen was smashed by unknown assailants in Johor Bahru.

Safiq Rahim, who is a Johor Darul Ta'zim midfielder, was driving his Honda City car near the club's training centre in Jalan Seri Gelam when two men on a motorcycle approached him at about 10 pm.

It is learnt that the motorcycle's pillion rider took out a hammer and smashed the car's rear windscreen. The impact jolted Shafiq and he stopped his vehicle. Fearing for his safety, Safiq reversed his vehicle before the two men on the motorcycle fled the scene.

This is the second attack on a national player in two days. On Sunday, Selangor FC player Faisal Halim suffered severe burns when two men on a motorcycle splashed acid on him in Kota Damansara, Selangor.
