As of 23 July, monitoring revealed a rise in heat-related illnesses, with cases increasing from 109 on 16 July to 112.

Yesterday, the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) reported in a brief update on the hot weather that out of the total cases, 26 were heat stroke, 78 were heat exhaustion, and eight were heat cramps.

The total number of heat stroke-related deaths remains at five, with no new fatalities reported this week.

Nadma stated that no cases are currently being treated in hospitals, as all have received treatment and fully recovered.

The agency forecasted that up to 29 July, two tropical cyclones—one a typhoon and the other a tropical storm—are active in the north-east of the Philippines and the South China Sea. As a result, the weather in the country is expected to become drier with less rainfall over the next few days.

The report indicates that, based on weather model analysis, conditions are expected to return to normal once the two tropical cyclones start to weaken from July 27
