MyKid Applications Restart Monday After Chip Shortage Pause
News
Published on 07/26/2024

Starting next Monday, July 29, the National Registration Department (JPN) will resume accepting applications for the MyKid child identity card at all their offices. This follows a temporary suspension due to a shortage of card chips, as announced in a statement today by JPN.

Applicants who previously submitted applications and received a receipt, but faced delays in card printing, are advised to check their printing status on the official JPN portal (www.jpn.gov.my) before visiting their chosen JPN office for collection.

According to the statement, verification can be done between July 29, 2024, and October 31, 2024. After this period, any unresolved MyKid applications will be canceled, requiring new applications to be submitted.

Applicants are encouraged to promptly collect their printed MyKid cards to prevent a backlog that could incur costs for the government.

For additional information, contact JPN’s Corporate Communications Unit at 03-88807077 or email pro@jpn.gov.my.

Previously, delays in issuing MyKid cards for newborns were attributed to a worldwide shortage of microchips caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
