The government is in the process of drafting legislation to fine men who enter pink coaches designated for female passengers on public transport.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke revealed that Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) have been directed to enhance monitoring of these women-only coaches.

Auxiliary police at railway and MRT stations will also be deployed more frequently to prevent men from trespassing into these reserved coaches, with enforcement actions to be taken as needed.

Loke stated that new regulations are being developed to impose fines on men who ignore the restrictions, as there is currently no existing rule to penalize such behavior.

He urged men to respect the women-only coaches, which are intended to ensure the safety, comfort, and confidence of female passengers. This comes in response to recent incidents, including a viral video of a man arguing with a woman after being caught in a coach reserved for women. There have been several cases of men entering these coaches, leading to conflicts and instances of molestation.
