Starting at 12:01 tonight, users of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) passing through the Section 1 toll plaza (Banting Interchange) will benefit from a month-long toll exemption. This free toll period is being offered in celebration of the 67th National Day and to mark one year of the MyJalan initiative.

Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi clarified that this toll waiver applies only to WCE Section 1 and does not extend to other tolls on the highway. The toll-free period will last until September 29 at 11:59 p.m.

Nanta also highlighted the economic benefits of the newly opened 12.5-kilometer stretch of highway connecting Jalan Dengkil – Banting (FT31) to the SKVE Highway. He noted that this segment could spur economic development in the southern region of Selangor, particularly in the Kuala Langat area, and improve access to major cities in the southern Klang Valley, including Putrajaya, Bangi, and Kajang.

The highway’s connection to the SKVE Highway is expected to enhance transportation for residents and boost the quality of life. It will support ongoing development projects around WCE Section 1, which include planned, integrated developments such as SME precincts, industrial hubs, and world-class logistics facilities.

Nanta further explained that the highway would improve logistics networks, facilitating the movement of goods from major ports like Port Klang and KLIA Airport. He expressed hope that the remaining four sections of the highway will be completed on schedule, with Section 2 expected to be finished by December. The concessionaire anticipates that the highway will handle approximately 10,000 vehicles per day.
