GISBH Followers Stranded in Malaysia: Financial Dependence on Jailed Leaders Leaves Them Unable to Flee, Says IGP"*
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Followers of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) are reportedly stuck in Malaysia, unable to escape to neighboring Thailand due to their complete financial dependence on the organization’s top leadership, which has recently been arrested and had their accounts frozen. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated that these followers lack the funds and resources to make it to the Malaysia-Thailand border and are now hiding.
Razarudin emphasized that even if they could flee, they have nowhere to go in Thailand, especially since the leadership has been detained. Current intelligence shows no signs of GISBH followers attempting to leave the country.
Additionally, many GISBH-linked businesses, including laundromats, motels, and restaurants, have changed their signboards following police raids, which are part of ongoing investigations. A spokesperson from the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) confirmed their commitment to intensifying raids on GISBH properties and searching for materials related to the group's founder, Ashaari Muhammad.
A recent survey revealed that GISBH-affiliated premises in Kota Baru, Tumpat, and Gua Musang have closed down, and a charity home linked to the organization has been sealed off by police. Earlier this month, police rescued 402 children and teenagers from 20 GISBH-run charity homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan amid allegations of labor and sexual exploitation.
