Three Penang Restaurants Shut for 14 Days After Rat Droppings Discovered"

Three restaurants in Penang have been ordered to close for 14 days after rat droppings were found in their kitchens during an inspection on Wednesday.

The eateries on Lebuh Tek Son, Jalan Penang, and Lebuh Pantai were inspected by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and the state Immigration Department as part of a cleanliness initiative.

The council stated that the closures were enforced under the Food Establishment Act By-laws 1991 due to unsanitary conditions and a lack of scheduled pest control.

Additionally, six foreign workers were arrested, five of whom lacked valid travel documents, and one overstayed their visas.
