ARAU, Sept 28 — in a dramatic pre-dawn chase, four suspected cable thieves rammed into a police patrol car in Arau, prompting officers to open fire in self-defense. The suspects, aged 20 to 34, fled in a Proton X70 after being flagged for inspection by police. During the escape, they crashed into the patrol car, causing severe damage. Officers fired five shots but no one was injured. All four suspects were arrested, along with tools for cable theft and a 150-metre ‘Telekom Malaysia Berhad’ cable. Police are now searching for two accomplices spotted nearby in a Perodua Myvi. Two suspects had prior criminal and drug records.
