All Malaysian Tourists Safe in Kathmandu After Nepal Floods and Landslides, Confirms Foreign Ministry
PUTRAJAYA, Oct 2 — Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry announced that all Malaysian tourists affected by recent floods and landslides in Nepal have been safely evacuated to Kathmandu. The ministry, via the Malaysian embassy in Kathmandu, is closely monitoring the severe rainfall impacting several districts since September 26.
Due to significant damage to access routes outside Kathmandu Valley, Malaysians planning to travel to the area are advised to postpone their trips. The ministry also urged Malaysians currently in Nepal to stay vigilant, follow local authorities’ guidance, and register with the embassy.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology in Nepal has warned that rain is expected to continue until October 4, with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reporting record-high rainfall that has tragically resulted in at least 200 local fatalities and 26 individuals still missing.
