KUDAT, Oct 7* — The charred remains of 76-year-old Lo Hiong Lan were discovered inside her home after a fire in Kampung Pituru last night. 

According to Kudat Fire and Rescue Department Chief Ishak Jabas, three firefighters were dispatched at 8:10 PM to the scene, located 45 km away. The two-storey house was completely engulfed in flames but had been extinguished by villagers before the fire brigade arrived.

Lo, who lived alone, was found in the living room on the ground floor during a follow-up inspection. Her remains were handed over to the police for further action. The extinguishing operation was completed at 2:25 AM after confirming the area was safe.
