ISLAMABAD:* Two Chinese nationals were killed in an explosion near Karachi's international airport on the night of October 6, which the Chinese embassy described as a "terrorist attack."
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group, claimed responsibility, stating they used a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device to target Chinese engineers. Reports indicate at least 10 others were injured in the blast, though details about the explosion remain unclear.
The attack reportedly targeted a convoy from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company. The Chinese embassy condemned the attack, expressing condolences to the victims and their families while working with Pakistani authorities in the aftermath.
The BLA, which seeks independence for Balochistan, has previously targeted Chinese interests in the region, accusing Beijing of aiding Pakistan in exploiting the province. In August, they launched coordinated attacks in Balochistan that resulted in over 70 fatalities.
