Elderly Woman Hurt in Bangsar Snatch Theft, Suffers Severe Head Injury

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8* — A 78-year-old woman was injured in a snatch theft on Jalan Limau Manis, Bangsar, yesterday morning. The victim, who was on her routine trip to buy a newspaper, fell face-first during the incident, sustaining severe head injuries. 

Brickfields District Police Chief ACP Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood confirmed that the elderly woman is currently being treated for significant bleeding at the University of Malaya Medical Centre.

The snatch theft occurred around 6:34 am when a man on a motorcycle stole the woman's bag, though it was reported that no valuables were inside. The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt during a robbery.

A viral video capturing the 2-minute and 45-second incident has since circulated on social media.
