KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has seized 156 application files for the Social Visit Pass (Medical Treatment Pass category) in an investigation linked to a medical visa syndicate involving Immigration Department officers.*
On October 1, EAIC officials conducted the seizure at the Immigration Department's Visa, Pass and Permit Division in Putrajaya, acting on complaints that officers were improperly issuing medical treatment passes to foreign nationals.
EAIC is now conducting a thorough investigation under the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission Act 2009. Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban confirmed the EAIC's visit and stated that his department is taking the matter seriously, emphasizing its commitment to integrity and improved governance.
Reports indicate that this syndicate has been facilitating medical visas for foreign nationals to enter the country under false pretenses.
