Some collaborations in cinema are truly magical, and the bond between composer Anirudh Ravichander and Superstar Rajinikanth is no exception. Anirudh has quickly become a top choice for major stars like Kamal Haasan, Vijay, and Shah Rukh Khan, but his connection with Rajinikanth is particularly special.*
Their partnership began with the 2019 film Petta and continued with Darbar, Jailer, and the upcoming Vettaiyan. At the audio launch for Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth recounted how Anirudh was chosen for the project, stating, “While we were finalizing technicians, Gnanavel was 100% sure we needed Anirudh, and I was 1000% sure.”
Rajinikanth reminisced about a moment from the shooting of Mannan, where he photographed a young Anirudh sitting on a throne prop, saying, “All these years later, he is indeed on the music throne.” He praised Anirudh's dedication, sharing how the composer performed for a 10,000-strong crowd despite having a fever during his recent Hukum tour in the USA.
Despite Rajinikanth’s concern for Anirudh’s health, he encouraged him to work hard while he has the strength, expressing his deep affection: “Anirudh is like a son to me.” He humorously added that he felt overwhelmed by Anirudh’s love when he saw a 10-foot photo of himself in Anirudh's apartment.
Vettaiyan, backed by Lyca Productions, features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan and Rana Daggubati, and is set to release on October 10.
