Floods Hit Pahang as Malaysia Faces Monsoon Transition: Minor Changes in Johor, Perak, and Kedah

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — As Malaysia experiences its monsoon transition phase, Pahang has become the latest state affected by floods, prompting the opening of two temporary relief centers (PPS) for evacuees. Currently, 66 flood victims from 18 families are sheltered at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lanchang, while 30 individuals from six families are at Mempateh Balai Raya.*

In Johor, the number of flood victims rose slightly to 200 from 63 families, with three districts—Kluang, Kulai, and Batu Pahat—reporting affected areas.

Perak is also facing increasing flood impacts, with 268 victims from 85 families recorded. A new PPS was established at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) RLKT Lasah in Sungai Siput as rescue efforts continue.

In Kedah, the number of evacuees has decreased to 2,312 from 709 families, with victims placed across 21 PPS in five districts.
