Kannada film director Guruprasad, aged 52, was found dead in his Bangalore home in a decomposed state, with authorities estimating he had been deceased for 4-5 days. Police suspect suicide, given that the door was locked from the inside, and no note was found. His wife Sumitra mentioned that Guruprasad had accumulated significant debt from film production, which may have led to his tragic decision.
Guruprasad, who directed Ranganayaka starring Bigg Boss fame Rachita Mahalakshmi, had recently been working on a new project, Adema. He married Sumitra, his second wife, in 2020, and they share a 3-year-old daughter. Guruprasad also has an older daughter from his first marriage.
The film community and fans have been deeply shocked by his passing. Guruprasad’s funeral was held at Wilson Gardens in Bangalore, with rites performed after a post-mortem. Many are saddened that financial pressures may have driven him to leave behind his wife and two young daughters.
