Mindef to Enhance Student Supervision at UPNM After Bullying Incident*
MELAKA, Nov 7 — The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) is stepping up efforts to combat bullying at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) following a disturbing incident where a cadet officer was allegedly burned with a hot iron by a senior. Deputy Minister Adly Zahari announced that the number of wardens will be increased to ensure better supervision and student welfare.
“We have zero tolerance for bullying, particularly incidents that result in injury or death. Strengthening the relationship between wardens and students is a key step,” Adly said after attending the Malaysian Armed Forces’ (MAF) In-Camp Schools e-Sports Competition.
Mindef also vowed to take swift action against any bullying cases and fully cooperate with police investigations if a report is filed. The ministry's move follows a report of a cadet officer suffering burn marks during a routine check.
In other news, the two-day e-Sports competition for children of defence personnel is underway, aimed at fostering talent in the growing e-sports industry. The event features 32 teams competing in PUBG Mobile, with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
