SDPI President Nellie Mubarak is calling for a ban on the film 'Amaran,' produced by Kamal Haasan and starring Sivakarthikeyan. While the movie celebrates the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, it has faced backlash from Islamic groups, including the Humanity People's Party, who argue it misrepresents Muslims and portrays them as anti-national, particularly in the context of Kashmir.
Mubarak criticized the film for allegedly promoting hatred and distorting facts, claiming it portrays the Azadi slogan—linked to the liberation struggle—as a terrorist cry while framing slogans from groups like Bajrang Dal as patriotic. He likened 'Amaran' to 'Kashmir Files,' labeling it a politically charged film that exacerbates anti-Muslim sentiment and should be opposed. He urged the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to condemn such films that foster division and hatred.
