KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 — Police are intensifying their investigation into alleged bullying at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) after a 19-year-old male cadet was injured.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Commissioner Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa reported that statements have been taken from the victim, a third-year cadet, and eight witnesses. They plan to question a senior cadet suspected of the incident later today at the Cheras police headquarters.
The investigation falls under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which addresses causing grievous hurt and carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison and a fine.
Rusdi has urged the public to refrain from speculation that could hinder the investigation. The police report regarding the incident, which allegedly occurred on October 21 after a roll call near UPNM’s marching ground, was received on November 8. It has garnered significant attention on social media, especially after a woman claimed her brother sustained rib fractures from being stomped on by a senior cadet.
