Flash Flood Hits Bugis District as Singapore Faces Record Rainfall*

SINGAPORE, Nov 17 — A flash flood struck Ophir Road near Bugis today after heavy rainfall, prompting flash flood warnings across several parts of Singapore. The Public Utilities Board (PUB) issued the warning around 1:30 pm, forecasting heavy rain in northern, southern, and western areas.

By 2:08 pm, the flood was confirmed, and PUB advised the public to avoid the area. The flood subsided by 3 pm, and traffic returned to normal. Other areas, including Tanjong Pagar Road, Upper Hokkien Street, and Jalan Boon Lay, were also at risk of flash floods.

Yesterday, Singapore recorded 108.4mm of rain in the north-west, the heaviest daily rainfall in 46 years, amounting to 43% of the average November rainfall. The Meteorological Service Singapore forecasts more heavy showers through the end of the month, with above-average rainfall expected.
