Kanguva Becomes Suriya’s 9th 100-Crore Hit Despite Mixed Reviews*

Produced by Studio Green and directed by Siva, Kanguva starring Suriya, released last Thursday, has received mixed reviews. Set between the 11th century and modern times, the high-budget film disappointed some of its crew due to negative feedback, prompting Jyotika to publicly defend the movie.

Despite the criticism, Kanguva made a strong box office debut, grossing over ₹56 crore on its opening day — Suriya's biggest opening yet. By its third day, the film has grossed ₹127.64 crore globally, with more than ₹30 crore from Tamil Nadu alone. While it’s facing a lukewarm reception in Tamil Nadu, the film is performing well in Telugu markets. Kanguva is now the 9th 100-crore film of 2024. The crew hopes the film’s momentum continues.
