PUTRAJAYA, Nov 21 — A recent visit by Afghanistan's Education Ministry delegation to Malaysia's Ministry of Education (MOE) aligns with Malaysia's foreign policy and support for Afghanistan's development.

In a statement, the MOE said the visit was conducted under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ guidance, ensuring security and monitoring. The delegation’s trip emphasized Malaysia's commitment to providing capacity-building assistance, especially in health and humanitarian sectors, to support Afghanistan’s social development.

The MOE highlighted Malaysia’s inclusive education system, particularly focusing on women's and girls' education, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) on quality education and gender equality. The Afghan delegation showed interest in adopting Malaysia’s best practices, especially in curriculum development, teacher training, and education technology.

The visit also reinforced Malaysia’s support for women’s education, as emphasized by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s commitment to strengthening ties with Afghanistan.

However, the visit has raised concerns, with DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng questioning its purpose, given Malaysia’s lack of diplomatic ties with Afghanistan and concerns over gender discrimination under the Taliban regime.
