Spanish World Cup winner Juan Mata has joined the ownership group of MLS expansion team San Diego FC, set to debut next year. The 36-year-old former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder becomes the first active international player with an MLS ownership stake, following David Beckham. Mata, who currently plays for Western Sydney Wanderers, expressed excitement about helping build a successful club in a growing city and league. San Diego FC chairman Mohamed Mansour welcomed Mata’s partnership, highlighting his extensive list of titles, including the World Cup, European Championship, and UEFA Champions League.
