Singapore Investigates Woman for Suspected Terrorism Links
SINGAPORE, Nov 22 — A Singaporean woman is under investigation for suspected terrorism-related activities, according to the Internal Security Department (ISD). The investigation follows claims posted on a Telegram channel with over 200,000 subscribers, suggesting that authorities had arrested her and seized electronic devices.
The ISD confirmed the woman has since been released but did not disclose further details as investigations continue. This case adds to a series of recent terrorism-related arrests in Singapore, including that of a 17-year-old ISIS supporter in August, who had been planning an attack. In 2017, the first woman was detained under the Internal Security Act for attempting to join ISIS, and in July 2024, another woman was issued a restriction order for making inflammatory online posts.
