As a result, 2025 is shaping up to be a year of comebacks for some of these stars, with hopes of regaining their place at the top.

Kamal Haasan, after the massive success of Vikram, faced a setback with Indian 2, which received heavy criticism upon its release in 2024. However, he is now eyeing a return to success with his upcoming film Taklaif, directed by Mani Ratnam. Set to release in June 2025, Taklaif is expected to mark Kamal’s big comeback.

Suriya, whose much-anticipated film Ganguly was released after a two-year gap, also faced disappointment. Directed by Siva, the film was one of the most expensive in Suriya's career but failed to meet expectations, both critically and commercially. However, Suriya is preparing for a major comeback in 2025 with two upcoming films. The first, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is set for release in April, while Suriya 45, directed by RJ Balaji, will also hit screens next year. Vikram, after the success of Vikram, had high hopes for Thangalan, directed by Pa. Ranjith. While the film was a box office success, it received mixed reviews, and some fans felt it didn’t meet expectations. Now, Vikram is working on his next project, Veera Theera Sooran, directed by Arun Kumar, which is slated for release in early 2025. Vikram is determined to please all his fans and make this film a massive hit.
