PARIS, Dec 12 — Manchester City’s troubles persisted with a 2-0 loss to Juventus in the Champions League yesterday, while Pep Guardiola’s former team Barcelona triumphed over Borussia Dortmund to secure a place in the knockout rounds of Europe’s top club tournament.

Arsenal, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Lille, Feyenoord, and Stuttgart also triumphed, but City's recent defeat in a dismal streak will overshadow the news.

The 2023 European champions fell in Turin as Dusan Vlahovic scored for Juventus early in the second half after goalkeeper Ederson failed to stop his header.

Ilkay Gundogan had an equalising opportunity thwarted by a brilliant save from Michele Di Gregorio, then Weston McKennie scored with an impressive acrobatic goal in the 75th minute to make it 2-0.

The outcome puts Juventus at 11 points with two matches remaining, a score that is anticipated to be sufficient for securing at least a spot in the knockout stage playoffs.

With only eight points, they are currently ranked 22nd in the standings, where the top 24 progress to the knockout stages. Their upcoming match will be vital, as they head to face a Paris Saint-Germain team that is one point below Guardiola's squad.
