Singapore Cracks Down on ‘Kpods’—Drug-Laced Vapes Targeting Youths

SINGAPORE, Dec 15 — Authorities in Singapore are raising alarms over the rise of "Kpods," drug-laced vapes increasingly popular among youths. These vapes contain substances like etomidate, an anaesthetic, and have been found in individuals as young as 12.

The Health Sciences Authority and Central Narcotics Bureau are investigating the issue, with recent cases revealing vapes containing etomidate and ketamine. Selling or possessing e-vaporisers in Singapore is illegal, with offenders facing fines or imprisonment.

Experts warn that Kpods are marketed as a "safer" alternative to drugs, leading many young people to perceive vaping as less harmful than smoking. Similar problems have been reported in neighboring countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, prompting stricter regulations and enforcement against these dangerous products.
