Kuala Lumpur — Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani have overtaken Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik to become Malaysia's new top men’s doubles pair, according to the latest BWF world rankings. The duo climbed to a career-high third place with 85,916 points after a strong runner-up finish at the BWF World Tour Finals 2024 in Hangzhou, China, where they lost to Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in a thrilling final.
This year, Goh and Izzuddin also secured three World Tour titles: Japan Open (Super 750), China Open (Super 1000), and Arctic Open (Super 500). Meanwhile, Astrup-Rasmussen surged to the top spot in the rankings with 95,003 points, pushing China’s Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang to second.
Aaron and Wooi Yik, the 2024 Paris Olympic bronze medalists, slipped to sixth place with 82,615 points.
In mixed doubles, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei reached a career-high sixth place after finishing as runners-up in Hangzhou, while Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai moved up to seventh.
In men’s singles, Lee Zii Jia rose to sixth place, while in women’s doubles, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah held steady in sixth. In women’s singles, South Korea’s An Se Young continued to dominate, with Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei in 43rd place
