NSC Gives MNCF Until Dec 31 to Confirm Azizulhasni’s Spot in 2025 Podium Programme

KUALA LUMPUR — The National Sports Council (NSC) has given the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) until December 31 to confirm whether track cycling star Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang will remain in the 2025 Podium Programme.

NSC deputy director-general Jefri Ngadirin stated that if the 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medallist agrees to continue, he must meet key performance indicators (KPIs), including qualifying for the 2025 UCI Track World Championships in Santiago, Chile.

The offer to retain Azizulhasni in the programme will be presented on January 1, and the MNCF is tasked with contacting him to finalize the decision.

Meanwhile, Jefri also spoke about the ongoing Jelajah Juara Esports Malaysia 2024, emphasizing the tournament’s role in developing the esports ecosystem. He suggested that future participants or winners could represent Malaysia in international competitions, with the event featuring E-football, Gran Turismo, and several physical sports. The five-day tournament offers RM15,000 in prizes.
