Virgil van Dijk has stated there is “no deadline” for deciding his future at Liverpool, with his current contract expiring at the end of the season. From January 1, the 33-year-old will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs, although he has expressed a strong preference to remain at Anfield.

“There’s no deadline. We will see what the future brings,” van Dijk said, adding there was no update on his situation.

Van Dijk is one of three key players, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, whose contracts are entering their final six months. Salah, who scored twice in Liverpool's 6-3 win over Tottenham, is having another standout season, with 18 goals and 15 assists so far. Van Dijk praised Salah’s impact, saying he hopes the Egyptian can have his best season yet for the club.
