The makers of the film, tentatively titled Suriya 44, revealed the title as Retro. Sharing a title teaser, featuring the principal cast of the film, including Suriya, Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Jayaram, and Naasar, the makers set the right tone of expectations for Retro.

Despite the downslide of Kanguva in 2024, Suriya would be looking for a change of fortunes with Retro, and RJ Balaji’s next, tentatively titled Suriya 45. The title teaser managed to raise the already sky-high expectations for the combination of Suriya and Karthik.
