Los Angeles — Wildfires continue to devastate Los Angeles, with massive blazes still raging across neighborhoods and leaving thousands displaced.

The fires, which have already destroyed over 2,000 structures, including multimillion-dollar homes, remain uncontained despite a large-scale firefighting effort. Helicopters are aiding efforts, and National Guard troops are set to deploy to help maintain order and curb looting, which has escalated in some areas.

Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed that around 400 National Guard members have been mobilized to assist local authorities. A sunset-to-sunrise curfew has been imposed in some evacuation zones to prevent further unrest.

The most significant blaze has scorched over 19,000 acres in the upscale Pacific Palisades area, while another fire in Altadena has burned 13,000 acres. Authorities warn that winds, which have fueled the fires, may cause further spread.

President Joe Biden has pledged additional federal aid, calling this the most destructive fire in California's history. Over 180,000 people remain under evacuation orders as the fires show no sign of easing.

Among the victims was 66-year-old Victor Shaw, who tragically perished after staying behind to protect his home. His body was found amid the wreckage of his Altadena property.

As the fires continue to rage, the city faces an unprecedented crisis, with critical fire conditions expected to persist.
