Selangor Govt, ECRL to Provide New Tombstones and Grave Enclosures for Relocated Selat Klang Cemetery

SHAH ALAM  — The Selangor state government is in talks with the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) concessionaire to sponsor new tombstones and grave enclosures for 90 relocated burial plots at the Selat Klang Muslim cemetery. The move comes after some grave structures were damaged during the relocation process.

Selangor Islamic Affairs and Innovation Committee chairman, Dr. Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, emphasized that the initiative was to support the deceased's families and ensure proper facilities for future visits.

The relocation, part of the Muslim Cemetery Relocation Action Plan, was conducted by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), in collaboration with the Health Ministry and police Forensic Department, to ensure proper handling of remains. While some relatives expressed dissatisfaction over not being allowed to witness the process, safety precautions were necessary, especially due to Covid-19-related cases.

The ECRL route in Selangor spans 90.72 kilometers across multiple districts, including Klang.
