KANOWIT — A couple and their four-month-old baby were rescued this morning after their vehicle became stranded in floodwaters along Jalan Lukut Penyulau.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) dispatched two firefighters from the Kanowit station at 6:15am, after receiving an emergency call. Upon arrival, the firefighters waded through four feet of water for about 130 meters to reach the vehicle and bring the family to safety.
The couple, aged 41 and 29, were en route from Sibu to Kanowit to deliver vegetables when their attempts to navigate the flooded road failed. The rescue operation concluded at 7:33am.
