SINGAPORE — A monsoon surge on January 10 and 11 brought heavy rainfall to Singapore, causing flooding in several areas and prompting flood warnings from the Public Utilities Board (PUB). Changi recorded 255.2mm of rain over two days, exceeding the monthly January average of 222.4mm.

PUB issued flood risk alerts for areas such as Jalan Seaview, Mountbatten Road and Tanjong Katong South Road, and Jalan Pokok Serunai. Flooding was reported on Jalan Seaview on the evening of January 10, as heavy rain coincided with a 2.8m high tide, overwhelming nearby canals and drains.

To manage the situation, PUB deployed Quick Response Teams to assist residents and pump water from affected areas. Flood protection devices were also distributed. The agency also urged the public to avoid sharing outdated flood videos, clarifying that some were from November and December 2024.
