Actors Vaibhav and Sunil have joined hands for a new comedy entertainer titled Perusu. The upcoming film's first look was released by Lokesh Kanagaraj on Monday. Directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Ilango Ram, the film will be backed by Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films, and Baweja Studios.
Ilango Ram has previously made two critically acclaimed films: Tentigo and Rabbit Hole. The upcoming film is set to be the Tamil remake of the Sinhalese comedy drama Tentigo which won the special jury award at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2023. Online movie streaming services
Apart from Vaibhav and Sunil, the cast of Perusu also has Redin Kingsley, Niharika NM, Bala Saravanan, and Chandini Tamilarasan, among others. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
Tentigo revolves around two brothers who, after discovering their father dead, are dismayed to find his erect penis still standing. What begins as a day of mourning descends into chaos as they attempt to discreetly address the situation before the funeral. In their efforts to conceal the truth, the brothers are forced to confront their strained relationship and uncover their father’s secret love life.
On the technical team, Perusu has music by Arun Raj, cinematography by Sathya Thilakam, editing by Sooriya Kumaraguru and art direction by Sunil Villuwamangalath. The film is produced by Kaarthekeyen S, Harman Baweja and Hiranya Perera. Perera also served as Tentigo's co-producer through Silent Frames Productions, Sri Lanka.
