ABU DHABI — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has invited UAE companies to invest in Malaysia’s renewable energy (RE) sector, including data centres, during his three-day working visit to the UAE.
Anwar held discussions with UAE sovereign wealth funds, including Masdar, a state-owned renewables company, to explore joint ventures in green energy, infrastructure, battery storage, and strengthening Malaysia’s energy grid.
He also highlighted opportunities in projects aligned with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and MADANI Economy framework, particularly in advanced manufacturing, logistics, green tech, healthcare, and education.
Anwar welcomed the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA)’s interest in partnering on the privatisation of Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB), citing ADIA’s experience with global airport projects. Additionally, discussions with Mubadala focused on LNG production, gas infrastructure, blue hydrogen, and carbon capture initiatives, as well as opportunities in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
