Two Men Burnt to Death in Alor Setar House Fire, Identities Unknown

ALOR SETAR — Two men were found dead in a house fire this morning in Tongkang Yard, Alor Setar. The identities of the victims remain unidentified.

Kedah Fire and Rescue Operations Assistant Director, Senior Fire Superintendent I Azhar Mohamad, confirmed receiving a call at 6:51 am about the blaze in a class A house. Firefighters arrived six minutes later and discovered two men collapsed inside the home. A third man managed to escape unscathed.

A total of 14 firefighters from the Jalan Raja and Alor Setar stations responded to the incident.

Witness Jefri Ahmad, 51, said he woke up to prepare for morning prayers and heard sounds like footsteps on dry leaves. Upon looking outside, he saw the house engulfed in flames and immediately called the Fire and Rescue Department. It was only after the fire was extinguished that he learned of the two victims’ deaths. Five people were reported to live in the house.
