Explosion Partially Destroys Klang Chemical Plant, No Casualties; Yellow Smoke Reported

SHAH ALAM — A chemical recycling plant in Kapar Indah Industrial Park, Klang, was partially destroyed in an explosion yesterday afternoon, though no casualties were reported.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar confirmed the explosion occurred around 4:23 pm. The incident produced yellow, eye-irritating smoke, prompting the dispatch of a Hazmat team from Shah Alam.

The Hazmat team conducted air quality tests and found the air to be safe. The fire involved recycled acid, and a tanker lorry was destroyed in the blast. Authorities are awaiting further inspections by the Department of Environment. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan also confirmed the explosion.
