Chinese Student Granted RM8,000 Bail in Johor Teen Abduction Case"

KUALA LUMPUR — A 23-year-old Chinese student, Huang Xiaonan, has been granted RM8,000 bail after being charged with abducting a 15-year-old girl in Johor Baru last year.

At the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Magistrate A. Shaarmini allowed bail with two local guarantors, after hearing arguments from both the defence and prosecution.

Huang, who is studying in Singapore, was accused of abducting the teenager on November 24, 2024, at a hotel in Johor Baru. He faces a charge under Section 365 of the Penal Code, which carries up to seven years in prison and a fine.

The defence cited Huang's medical needs and student status as grounds for bail, while the prosecution opposed it. Huang is required to report to the police once a month as part of the bail conditions. The next hearing is scheduled for January 27.
