Sibu Police Bust Toy Shop Selling RM35,000 Worth of Fake Firearms
SIBU — A toy shop owner and her employee were arrested after police discovered 60 fake firearms worth RM35,000 during a raid on Monday as part of Operation Laras.
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipi Suhaili confirmed the arrests at 2:30 pm at the shop in Wisma Sanyan, where officers seized 25 fake pistols and 35 fake rifles. The suspects, a 45-year-old woman and her 29-year-old employee, were taken into custody.
The case is being investigated under Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960. Zulkipi reminded the public that owning, buying, or selling imitation firearms is a criminal offense, punishable by up to one year in prison or a fine of up to RM5,000, or both.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on the sale of fake firearms to come forward.
