Senior Citizen Fined RM1,600 for Slapping Puspakom Officer in Johor Baru
A 60-year-old man, Koh Soon Hua, was fined RM1,600 at the Johor Baru Magistrate's Court today after pleading guilty to slapping a Puspakom staff member last November. Koh, who is unemployed, was charged with causing injury to the 38-year-old officer, Mohd Suzaini Mohd Talib, during a dispute over a failed vehicle inspection at the Puspakom branch in Jalan Bertam.
The incident occurred on November 18 when Koh's lorry failed a periodic inspection. In anger, he slapped the officer on the left ear, causing swelling. Koh was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum fine of RM2,000 or a one-year jail sentence.
Koh was also warned that failure to pay the fine would result in two months’ imprisonment. The incident, captured by CCTV, went viral on social media earlier this week, sparking widespread attention.
