PARIS — Meta has denied claims that users are being forced to follow accounts linked to the new Trump administration. A Meta spokesperson explained that the official accounts for Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance are managed by the White House, and their content changes with the new administration.

He clarified that users were not automatically made to follow any of these accounts, and similar changes took place during the 2021 presidential transition. Some users had complained about issues with following or unfollowing the accounts, but Meta said it might take time for requests to process.

The complaints come amid Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s ongoing efforts to maintain a positive relationship with Trump’s administration since his election victory.
