IPOH — Police are investigating allegations that a primary school pupil in Bagan Serai was injured after being beaten by a teacher, with the incident going viral on social media. The case has been classified under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
Kerian Police Chief Supt Juna Yusoff said the incident occurred on Dec 10 last year, when the pupil’s mother reported that her 12-year-old son had been slapped and punched by a 30-year-old teacher, causing an ear injury. The mother initially withdrew the report but later filed a new one, urging the police to take action.
The boy, a hopeful national backup swimmer, was reportedly forced to abandon his dream of competing internationally in Bangkok due to the injury. Authorities have advised the public to avoid speculation and to report any information to the Kerian District Police.
