Rajinikanth, who has acted in 170 films, is known for delivering numerous hits, with classics like Bashaa and Annamalai still celebrated today. These films, directed by Suresh Krishna, continue to break records even when re-released.
Actor, director, and screenwriter Manikandan, who worked alongside Rajini in Kaala, recently shared his preference for Annamalai over Bashaa. During a break in the film's shoot, Rajinikanth asked Manikandan about his favorite films. Manikandan explained that while Bashaa features a villain, Raghuvaran, whom Rajini eventually avenges, Annamalai stands out because Rajini faces a challenge from his friend Sarathbabu, not an enemy. Instead of revenge, Rajini helps Sarathbabu by returning his house, a key highlight of Annamalai.
Rajini, impressed by Manikandan's perspective, agreed that Annamalai is indeed a special film.
