Ops Sepadu: 124 Vehicles Penalised in JPJ’s Festive Crackdown
KUALA LUMPUR — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) conducted a festive season operation, Ops Sepadu, in the federal capital last night, inspecting 1,106 vehicles and issuing penalties to 124 offenders. The most common violation was driving without a valid licence (103 cases), followed by expired road tax (70), lack of insurance (58), and non-compliant registration plates (18).
During the operation along Jalan Raja Laut from 8pm to midnight, three cars and eight motorcycles were seized, including one with a fake registration plate. The operation, aimed at boosting road safety ahead of the festive season, involved 73 personnel from JPJ, the police, Immigration Department (JIM), and the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).
JIM detained eight foreign nationals, while AADK reported five drug-positive individuals. Additionally, PDRM issued 62 notices for traffic violations. JPJ also noted a significant spike in vehicles entering the city, with 1.27 million cars recorded on Thursday alone. Ops Sepadu will continue until February 9.
