Ex-Ranhill CEO Charged with Cheating RM3.38 Million for Fake CSR Events
KUALA LUMPUR — Faizal Aliar, former CEO of Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd, was charged at the Sessions Court today with two counts of cheating involving RM3.38 million. The 39-year-old pleaded not guilty to deceiving the company into donating RM82,500 for a non-existent "Program Imarah Ramadan 2023" and requesting RM3.3 million for another fake event, "Program Prihatin Komuniti Madani 2023."
Both amounts were allegedly transferred to an account linked to the NGO Pertubuhan Inspirasi Prihatin Malaysia. Faizal faces up to 10 years in prison, whipping, and a fine under Section 420 of the Penal Code if convicted.
Bail was set at RM100,000 after defense counsel cited Faizal’s financial and health issues, though the prosecution had initially sought RM200,000 due to the seriousness of the charges.
